What Does the Rt Stand for on the Dodge Challenger
Dodge is an American Detroit based automotive manufacturer that started in 1900 by the Dodge brothers. Dodge has gone through a few owners in the past century, and now it is owned Fiat and Chrysler. Among the many brands that Dodge cars produce, are the R/T models, which are now known as the SRT models. In this article, I present the R/T definition and models as well as the SRT models to date.
R/T
R/T was first introduced in the 1960s, and it stands for Road/Track, which means any vehicle with this rating is fit for both road driving and track racing. R/T vehicles have upgraded suspension, tires, brakes, and usually more powerful engines. According to a famous product design agency, R/T vehicles have one of the best car software you can find today. In most cases, the paintwork reflected the R/T badge, and the paintwork is monotype paint and stripe with aggressive body modifications to accompany the specialized look.
SRT
In 2004 the R/T badge was internally challenged by the SRT badge which stands for Street & Racing Technology. The first SRT in development was the Doidge Viper, and until the SRT badge replaced the R/T badge, the group designing the new performance vehicle was called Team Viper. At the same time, another team was in operation; Team Prowler was busy creating the Plymouth Prowler. At the Prowler was rated a Specialty Vehicle Engineering (SVE), however in January 2001, the SVE badge was replaced by the Performance Vehicle Operations (PVO) badge, and in 2004 this was rebranded SVT to replace the R/T. SRT is the continuation of R/T vehicles and comes with heavy tuned vehicles for Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep.
The current naming of SRT models shows the type of the engine of the model, for instance; the Chrysler 300C SRT-8 has a 6.1-liter Hemi V-8 engine, the Dodge Viper SRT-10, and the Dodge Ram SRT-10 have an 8.3 L V-10 engine.
Modern R/T
There are now two performance models to choose from, the R/T and the SRT.
Engine Upgrades
R/T and SRT engines are upgraded versions of their standard counterparts, so a standard model 6.4L Hemi engine will have an SRT version rated at 470 hp (350 kW) and 470 lb/ft (637 N/m)
The most powerful SRT model today is the 2018 Challenger Demon. This SRT model delivers a quarter-mile time of 9.65 seconds.
RT vs. SRT
The main difference between SRT and R/T models is the engine upgrade, where modern SRT's have more powerful engines than their R/T counterparts. Take the Dodge Challenger that has a 5.7L engine in the R/T badge; this is 100HP less powerful than the new 6.4L SRT8 engine.

A few Dodge model R/T engines will come out in 2019, among them are the Challenger series, and I present to you the four different R/T, SRT versions to compare. Take note of the engine's basic performance and what it delivers in each upgraded model.
2019 R/T Challenger

- 2019 Challenger R/T Scat Pack 1320 this model delivers 485 horsepower from the 392 HEMI® V8 engine.
2019 SRT Challenger

Conclusions
The R/T badge delivers extreme road and track performance but is not the most powerful engine type on the market. Nevertheless, Dodge has the new SRT that is their ultimate power performance model. The R/T and SRT models come with slight body differences but are essentially similar. The only difference between them is when you turn the key.
